Anna's Thoughts on SWCID
I chose SWCID and Howard Collage, because these colleges are helping me to go deeper in my studies. My most professors at SWCID know sign language. They provide interpreters for the deaf for classes at Howard College. My hearing high school in Mexico didn’t have any interpreters.
Why Office Technology & Business?
I am enthusiastic to study in my major studies. I hope to get a good and successful job in the future.
Future Plans and Goals?
I have worked for 16 years in the Department of Special Education in Mexico. Now I have been working for 3 years at Walmart. After I graduate from SWCID and Howard College, I hope to look for a job or continue my studies.
They are all my favorites, to be honest, I really don’t have any specific favorite teacher. However, all my teachers (Linda Marino, Vasant Limaye, Amanda Glasgow and other teachers) are nice and excellent. They all smile at me and inspire me to continue my studies every day. I have been able to communicating with my teachers in the sign language, because I have been deaf since I was born.

Advice to Other Students
Time is gold. Please, don’t stop studying and don’t say that “I can’t do it”. We all can! What I mean that you may look at me that I am a mother of 2 children. I have been working at Walmart for almost 3 years from 10 pm to 7 am. Like me, you can do it!
Most valuable learning experience at SWCID?
My favorite quotation by William James Durant is “Education is a progressive discovery for our own ignorance”. Learning every day is one of my favorite hobbies. I am an older student and I am still in college studying.
Where do you relax and have fun
I spend my days mostly with my two wonderful children and my husband. We would all watch a movie eating popcorn, or playing dominos. Reading books and traveling are what I like to do mostly. In our non-free time, I’m in college or doing other regular work.
What I like most about SWCID
SWCID has the peaceful environment. My teachers and my peers know ASL (American Sign Language). I appreciate to have good communication with them using ASL.
What I tell future SWCID students
Study, and keep a positive attitude and do not worry about your age or where you live. Continue to learn during your life!
