Shayla's Thoughts on Howard College

Why Howard College?
I started at Howard as a single mother and knew Howard would be the best fit for me at the time.

Why General Studies?
I chose General Studies because I wanted to leave my options open in case I changed my mind along the way.

Career Goals
I plan to transfer to a 4 year university and obtain my Bachelor Degree, and then go on to law school.

Favorite Professor
It is hard to list just one.  I have found something different about each one that really makes me enjoy their class.  Mrs. Ebeling, Mrs. Treadwell, Mr. Logsdon, and Mrs. Rodriguez are all a part of this list.

My Awards / Honors

  • President's list - 4.0 GPA
  • Phi Theta Kappa President

My Clubs / Organizations

  • Phi Theta Kappa
  • Student Government Association

Best Studying Advice
My advice for other students is to take the Learning Frameworks class the very first semester they enroll.  That course helped me tremendously.

Most Valuable Learning Experience
I have learned that it does not matter how old you are, or if you lost your way, you can always get back on track and achieve your dreams, especially if you start with Howard College.

Relax and Have Fun
I like to go out to the lake to relax or have a good time with friends or family.

What I like most about Howard College
I love the organizations on campus.  They have fostered new relationships and have made my experience at Howard College much better than it could have been

What I tell future Howard College students
I would tell them to get involved and stay involved, because it really opens the door to many more opportunities within Howard College and at other universities if you plan on transferring.
