Luciano's Thoughts on SWCID

Why SWCID?
SWCID was a great educational opportunity for me because it offered the career training I was interested in and had Deaf instructors that provided smooth communication for me as a Deaf student.

Why Building Construction Technology?
I chose to major in Building Construction Technology because I love staying active and being able to work with my hands. I am a visual learner, and having a tangible classroom experience is why I enjoyed my classes so much.

Future Plans and Goals?
In the future I hope to find a job in construction and hope to one day become a manager within my construction company.

Favorite Professor
Ronnie Sandoval was my favorite teacher at SWCID because he was patient and helpful and always helped me learn from my mistakes and taught me the correct way to do things.

My Honors and Awards

  • SWCID Presidential Award
  • President's Honor Roll Fall 2013
  • Honor Roll Fall 2012, Spring 2013

Advice to Other Students
I would encourage all students who are struggling with their studies to visit the tutoring center as a way to get some extra assistance.

Most valuable learning experience at SWCID?
While at SWCID, I learned how important it is to self-evaluate and make sure I am always doing my best and conducting myself the best way I can.

Where do you relax and have fun
I really enjoy visiting the State Park and walking up the mountain side.

What I like most about SWCID
My favorite thing about SWCID is playing volleyball in the gym. This year I have had the chance to lead volleyball activities and I have especially enjoyed setting up competitive team volleyball tournaments.

What I tell future SWCID students
I would encourage prospective students to check out SWCID because it could be the perfect match for their educational and career goals and could really give them a step up in life.
