Michael's Thoughts on Howard College

Why Howard College?
Convenience.  After separating from the U.S. Air Force, Howard College helped ease my transition from a service member to a civilian.  Also, the location helped since I have a strong support structure in family and friends.

Why Mathematical Biology?
What lead me to select Mathematical Biology as my major is my experiences in the military intelligence field and my interest in Bioinformatics.

Career Goals
My future plans / goals are to receive my master's degree (or higher) in Mathematical Biology and receive a minor in Law, and one day I hope to venture off into the business realm.

Favorite Professor
This answer may sound rather cliche, I have thoroughly enjoyed each professor I have had and met since enrolling at Howard College in January of 2011.  I have learned something new from each of them.

My Awards / Honors

  • President's List
  • Dean's List
  • Nominated for All-Academic USA Today Team

My Clubs / Organizations

  • SGA Vice-President
  • AMP Project (Science Department)
  • Diplomat

Best Studying Advice
Apply yourself!  Get ahead and stay ahead. Another piece of advice is to find a learning style and environment that works best for you and commit to it.

Most Valuable Learning Experience
One of the most valuable learning experiences would be the reminder of the value of developing long lasting relationships not only with peers, but with family and professors.

Relax and Have Fun
I rarely relax.  I feel extremely unproductive if I'm not doing something.  My ideal escape is a visit to the Fitness Center or to put on my running shoes and enjoy the open road.

What I like most about Howard College
I really like the professor to student ratio and how eager faculty is to assist in the success of their students.

What I tell future Howard College students
We get out of life what we put into it.  Get to know your professors on a more personal level as well as other professors and network with students outside your circle.
